The Skylines of New York City Are Ours
Building owners and managers, architects and engineers, and contractors should ask, “How can I put my best façade forward?” And the answer consistently points to the quality, craftsmanship and safe work environment provided by members of the Building Restoration Contractors Association for both landmark and non-landmark buildings. Most significantly, members of our Association are union contractors who utilize highly skilled trades people who are members of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local Union No. 1.

Who Are These Diverse Skilled Craftsmen?
Members of Local Union No. 1 represent the most highly skilled trowel trades craft workers, including bricklayers, stone and marble masons, cement masons, plasterers, tile setters, terrazzo and mosaic workers and pointers, cleaners and caulkers. Contractor members utilize these skilled trades people to offer the highest quality workmanship in restoring a diverse range of building projects. The International Masonry Institute (IMI), with which members of the BRCA are also affiliated, is an international labor-management cooperative of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) and the contractors who employ its members. IMI programs include, among its many activities, the development of training programs for BAC trowel trades craft workers as well as a comprehensive safety training program.
